What’s all this fighting about?, Pt.8 – Obama part way,
‘steady as she goes’.

But how to how to cover the most costly risks is a tough
question and it is expensive. Fortunately, no one yet has said
“No” to providing health insurance the ‘uninsurable, either.
The fix is not a simple one. Also, the problem hasn’t always
been as extreme as it is today. For the last 60 years, or so
America was mostly oriented toward large risk-sharing pools
with their predominant employer-based health insurance. These
pools made it practical to offer health insurance to the
‘unfortunates. The reality is that the young and healthy are
actually the same people as the older less healthy. The only
difference is the period of their life they’re in. So the older
and less healthy have already paid their way while they were
yet young. If the young opt out now, who picks up the tab
later. This is an inherent flaw with private health insurance.
By carving up the risk-sharing pools, they are programmed for
future failure. Their client’s are being herded to the
slaughterhouse as they age. Both candidates have their work cut
out.
Mr. O has been leaning toward subsidizing more expensive
medical procedures to offload the brunt from the health
insurance providers. He knows he is going to need support from
the health insurance industry. They seem to extending a hand
out for negotiations. Perhaps the only large issue is that, in
order for the industry to cover the ‘uninsurable’, they require
a mandate that all adults be mandated to obtain coverage. Sound
a little like Hillary?
