More on the ‘Hack and Sack’, Pt.5 – Reports are good, but
decisions are ahead.

More and more experts are jumping on board, as the health
insurance/care plan evolves, even more experts get involved.
One of the recent experts of note is Kenneth E. Thorpe. Hailing
from Emory University, Mr. Thorpe is "an authority on health
care costs,” explained by Mr. Sack. Mr. Thorpe was deeply
involved in the creation of the Clinton health insurance/care
plan back in 1993. As Mr. Thorpe gave careful assessment to the
Obama plan, his written response was: “If all of Obama’s
proposals were enacted, they would reduce national health
spending by between $203 billion and $273 billion by 2012.” His
calculations signify that the federal government would benefit
from half of those health insurance/care savings.
It is also important to note that not all of the savings
will be in the form of cheaper health insurance. But to be
sure, the savings will be received by consumers in other ways
also. The government plan is to pass along its savings in the
form of less taxes or more comprehensive health insurance
benefits.
The employers will also benefit from these savings and it is
intended that they will pass these savings along to their
employees. At least that’s the hope, knowing that the ‘job
free-market’ plays by it’s own rules. With the ‘Farengi-stiled’
economy we’ve ‘enjoyed’ for the last 8 years, some experts
doubt if all factions will corporate and if these ‘ideal’ goals
are politically or fiscally realistic. Mr. Sack summarizes this
problem with the caution: “One person’s fraud and abuse is
another person’s income.” Any time we take money from someone’s
pocket to ration health insurance/care for the general public,
you are bound to meet stiff resistance. To be sure, money is
always changing hands. We can either take it from our children
who have not yet come of age in the form of a $quad-kazillion
dollar national debt and give it away to our billionaires. Or
we can hold to the once-important dream of escaping the feudal
days where the King and his barons held all the gold and power,
and provide a land where all of our citizens are afforded some
quality of life.
