American Health insurance System 201, Pt.1 – Undoing the
disinformation.
Great article written by Daniel Gallington and posted on
the Washington Times’ website: washingtontimes.com concerning
the current health insurance/care system. With this
information and the dispelling of some disinformation, the
American voters will be able to compile value decisions in how
to reform the pathetic health insurance/care system that we
have now. As Mr. Gallington points out at the onset, most of
our country’s voters have been so mislead with disinformation,
that the remaining time ‘til elections may not be enough to
disseminate the realities that will not be ignored. As he goes
on to explain, the reason isn’t the complexity nor lack of
intelligence of the voter. It’s because the real health
insurance issues are controlled by forces beneath the surface.
Forces like multi-trillion-dollar industries, 60 years worth
of traditions and politicians who will “[muddy] the “water on
the issues… because it's not a good idea for them - politically
- to be specific,” piecing the well-phrased explanation from
Mr. Gallington’s article. To clarify the ‘muddle’, Mr.
Gallington suggests it may require the courage on the part of
Congress holding comprehensive health care system hearings to
reveal the true facts in order to bring us up to speed before
we can even understand what needs to be done. He does not yield
a rosy outlook of that being done any time soon. The ultimate
loyalty of many congressmen seems to be somewhat compromised
between constituents and large industry.
While most US citizens (82%) believe that our current health
insurance/care system is so bad, it needs a complete overhaul,
according to a recent survey, commissioned and analyzed by the
non-profit Commonwealth Fund) and administered by the Harris
Interactive, Inc group. (for the full spread, please
review the article series entitled: “Sweeping
Demands on Health Care”.) The health
insurance industry, on the other hand, kinda likes the status
quo.
