American Health insurance System 201, Pt.8 ––
How can we get taxpayers on board?
Previous…
Treating number (2) question concerning government funding
for a national health insurance system: “How can we phrase the
question to taxpayers in a way they will agree to higher
taxes?” Tough question and here is where so much vagueness
muddies the water. Mr. McCain has only rendered a cursory
health insurance/care presumption that he knows how to do it.
He doesn’t give many details and belays any close scrutiny by
stating, “These are very ‘preliminary’ estimates”. Mr. Obama
(with guidance from his chief domestic advisor, Mr. Cutler) has
given us much greater detail about his proposal. He estimates
that about $65 billion a year into subsidies should do the
trick. His plan would be funded in a few different ways. One of
those is that employers would be mandated to either provide
health insurance to their workers, or else pay into the fund.
This could be as high as 7% of payroll. It is expected that
this will provide about $45 billion for the fund. This does
not, however, directly effect the taxpayer.
The other method of providing funding for a national health
insurance/care system, which does directly affect the taxpayer,
is best explained by his chief domestic advisor, Mr. Cutler:
“The money for the Obama health plan comes from not extending
the Bush tax cuts on high-income people who are earning over
$250,000 a year.” It is estimated that somewhere between $70
and $75 billion will be readily available every year for a
national health insurance/care system that covers all of the
axioms. And the beauty is, almost no one will see a tax
increase. Maybe only one, out of every hundred Americans will.
