Mini-Biz Health-Care Wishes and Woes, Pt.2 – Trends and
patterns.

With health insurance among the top three concerns today of
the American voter, knowledge of problems and remedies are
becoming crucial. The top spokesperson for NASE and their ,
executive director, Kristie Darien has worked with Ms. Klein,
who is the columnist for ‘Smart Answers’, in examining and
explaining the findings of the most recent health insurance
survey. Ms. Klien notes that NASE has performed similar
surveys, going back as far as 2002. Some of the most important
projections are to be found in trends and patterns. So, here
are some of the patterns that have emerged by contrasting two
former health insurance surveys conducted from the same
microbusiness industry. Those earlier surveys were conducted
back in 2002 and in 2005.

those who now carry health insurance coverage for themselves,
from 54.9% in 2005, up to 67% this year. The twist, however, is
the stark drop in the percentage of those that no longer cover
health insurance for their full-time employees. Since 2005,
that coverage has plummeted from 46.2% down to only 18.6% this
year. This discovery was, perhaps, the most significant and
revealing finding of the whole study. The cause for this is no
surprise, but the strong agreement among respondents solidifies
the premise. A large, 65%, of the respondents were in agreement
that the cost barrier was not only key, but was the sole factor
of why these entrepreneurs, who wanted to provide coverage for
their employees, were not able to.
