Mini-Biz Health-Care Wishes and Woes, Pt.4 – What are the
greatest causes of the problem?
Previous…
Most believe that, no matter who provides the health
insurance, whether it be from private health insurance or a
government-sponsored health insurance program, all citizens
should have insurance and should pay, at least, a portion of
the costs. For someone to take an unfair advantage of a noble
nation caring for it’s internal health doesn’t set well with
the honest, hard-working population that is this group. This is
probably the ‘middle-ground’ of the best approach for the most
fair bi-partisan resolve to our nation’s current health care
reform. If our presidential nominees could pick up on this
viewpoint and find innovative ways to encompass all these
conditions, they would likely find strong voter support backing
their proposals.
The survey went on to inquire of what this population
considered to be the greater causes of this out-of-reach
high-cost health insurance/care demise. Again, a lot of
well-grounded thought was reflected in the responses. The
statistics given here are without regard to company size
(within this group) or demographics. So they were based on a
more broad-based perspective. Here is the breakdown:
- 28.8% said "[Health] insurance companies [are]
making too much profit."
- 21.7% said "Doctors/hospitals [are] charging too
much for services"
- 13.2% said “Medical malpractice lawsuits” were the
greatest cause.
Ms. Darien was a little surprised that the cost of
prescription drugs, ‘unhealthy life styles’ and the advancing
age of our country’s average population were not higher on the
list. These responses do appear to be those of greater thought,
focusing on the greatest needs that could and should be
resolved. Not merely chronic complaining.
