Mini-Biz Health-Care Wishes and Woes, Pt.6 – On the health
insurance issues.
Previous…
This, of course, begs more questions on health
insurance/care reform preferences. Just where does this
very diverse fourth group stand on health insurance and what is
the cross-sectional break-down of the two major components
within the first two categories. Two big components are
taxes and a universal health-care system. NASE has
performed admirably in their comprehensive health
insurance/care study to glean to this level of greater detail.
The cross-section of these answers is given thus:
- 40.3% of the whole reported being willing to
support a tax increase to fund universal health-care.
- 51.1% of the whole supported universal health-care
when taxes were not part of the question.
- 33.0% of the whole did not favor universal
health-care.
- 40.0% said that an average tax increase of 7.3%’
for universal health-care would be ok.
- The remainder of those willing to pay some tax,
wanted it hold the increase to ‘5% or less".
From this view, it can be seen that the majority of
respondents favor a universal health-care system. However, a
substantial one-third are opposed to it. This is a clear
distinction. A very important distinction shows that
those in the second-highest rating were committed enough to
actually fund universal health insurance/care with increased
taxes. Nearly all of them were willing to pay the higher
tax percentage suggested (7.3% tax increase). So, over half of
the respondents wanted universal health insurance/care.
Almost half were even willing to pay for it with tax increases.
Still, a solid third do not want universal health-care.
