Myth Buster 101, Pt.1 – The cloudy, bleak picture.
By now, it would seem that any thinking American would
agree that our nation’s current health insurance/care system
is in a mess. What’s not so clear, though, is how to fix it.
Separating substance from rhetoric is one of the biggest
problems. Grand visions and ideas abound and are quickly
accepted with qualification. Some are readily accepted at face

insurance/care experts that can clarify things. But,
unfortunately, a large part of our population doesn’t have the
time to follow up on this very important health insurance/care
research. Fortunately for us, Gary Kazanjian of the Center for
American Progress has.
Gary has posted a very informative article on the
www.americanprogress.org web site. In the article entitled “Six
Conservative Myths About Health Care”, Mr. Kazanjian explains
to us in detail some of the grand visions and their prospective
viabilities. To provide a backdrop, he begins by assessing some
of the gravest social issues found in the developed world
today. He brings to light the fact that the soaring costs of
health insurance have, not only crippled a staggering number of
Americans in poor health, but also the problem extends to
millions of Americans in good health. Just as bad is the fact
that soaring medical costs are destroying our economy, one
household at a time. How many know that health care costs are
the #1 cause of personal bankruptcy in our nation today? Worst,
still is the fact that the majority of these bankruptcies are
victims who carried health insurance.
