Myth Buster 101, Pt.2 – Why should we care?
Previous…
The issue of health insurance/care reform has finally barged
it’s way to the forefront of our nation’s leaders by necessity.
But, what we see are ‘roadblocks’ in every direction, instead
of real progress. Some of the most obstinate bulwarks are the
band-aids and counterfeits that skirt away from the main issue,
which is “affordable [health insurance] coverage to every
American,” as Mr. Kazanjian aptly words it. Slip-joints,
conveniently slide the focus over to side issues, that offer
very little progress, if any at all, to the main issue which,
again, is “affordable [health insurance] coverage to every
American.”
There exists a haughty attitude among many who could care
less about their fellow countrymen, whether they have health
insurance coverage or not. Perhaps they have long forgotten the
extreme price our forefathers have selflessly paid dearly to
provide creating and defending nation intended to be like
minded. Do our valiant soldiers in Iraq fight because they love
to be shot at? Or they offering their extreme sacrifice in
support of the millions of their fellow countrymen that they’ll
never even meet? Perhaps those people who could care less
should recall the words of Mr. McCain, when he stated : “To
love one’s country is to love one’s countrymen”. Do we care
enough to validate the statistic that 22,000 Americans died
last year due to lack of health insurance? Would a lesser
figure be more palatable? Those who do care are free to and
encouraged to recheck the exhaustive work performed by the
experts at the Center for American Progress or, even check with
those experts themselves. They are listed on the org’s
www.americanprogress.org web site.
