The Health Care Heat is On, Pt.1 – America’s voice is
heard.
Things are picking up in the health insurance/care arena.
Now that the democratic preliminaries have resolved into
unity, the party is free to move forward toward unified
solidarity. One of the hot issues (rightly so) is the health
insurance/care crisis. The democrat’s “aggressive push
for universal health care” (Post, Perry Bacon) will be one of
the boldest moves ever to survive, if it does. Just 14
years ago, ‘universal health insurance/care’ was such a
foreign concept to the American public, that they all ran away
from it in confusion. They required a much more visual proof
that they needed it – and now they have it.
Recently, CNN News conducted a national poll to find out the
needs of the American public. One of the key questions posed to
those respondents was "Do you think the government should
provide a national health insurance program for all Americans,
even if this would require higher taxes?" A resounding
majority of 64% said “Yes.” That’s way over half of the
‘projected’ general public and more than double the percentage
(29%) who are willing to keep what we currently have, leaving
so many without health insurance. Our national leaders
must be held accountable to the American public. They are
obligated to listen to ‘the people’. These figures today
did not exist 14 years ago, many hard lessons had to be learned
and a simpler vision had to be developed. A simpler
vision is now before us and poll figures are providing clear
expectations. Perhaps enough people have suffered the
current crises to finally get aggressively involved.
