The Health Care Heat is On, Pt.2 – Landmark reform.
Previous…
There are still many in self-seeking power who could care
less about the devastation of others. Even Mr. McCain asserted
on patriotic views in a recent Parade interview entitled: A
Cause Greater than Self-interest. In it, he states, “To love
one’s country is to love one’s countrymen”. This concept should
never be dismissed or misconstrued as mere rhetoric. It must be
embraced as an essential American ideal. Mr. Obama’s interview
was entitled Sacrifice for the Common good. In this he stated,
“True patriotism also means a willingness to sacrifice for our
common good.” So what do we do about the 45 million Americans
with no health insurance? What do we do about the 25 million
more Americans with inadequate health insurance, many of whom
are worse off than those with no health insurance?
This is what’s at stake here. Will we unify for patriotic
ideals like Mr. McCain’s Cause Greater than Self-interest --
“to love one’s countrymen?” Mr. Obama’s ideal “willingness to
sacrifice for our common good?” It’s going to take strong unity
to confront powerful people who don’t believe this way. It will
require a very committed vision to resolve our rotting health
insurance/care crises. Many visions will fail for unrelated
reasons. Only a vision that is clear and unwavering in
commitment can succeed. So here is one vision, Mr. Obama’s
vision for universal health insurance/care to resolve the
devastating woes of tens of millions of Americans. The
economics are neither presumptive nor fuzzy. But they are
confrontational. If successful, this aggressive vision will go
down as one the most landmark reforms our nation has known.
