The Health Care Heat is On, Pt.6 – Hillary’s key idea.

Previous…

Again, there is still no detailed consensus among the coalition as to exactly what the plan should look like. Though similar, there is still no shoe-in agreement that Mr. Obama’s plan is what their looking for. Should he become elected, there would still be many things to iron out, as far as the best universal health care bill that would make it through Congress. There is still the uphill battle of getting the health insurance providers on board. This proved to be the downfall when the Clintons tried their rendition of reform back in 1993. The health insurance companies have already indicated that they would oppose Mr. Obama’s approach as it stands now. They don’t like the added regulations without there being a mandate of all people being enrolled. They insist another mandate whereby those who can purchase health insurance would be required to do so, much like it is in the Massachusetts model.

The reality is, this may be the most practical approach to reach Congressional approval. Even the coalition, as well as Democratic Senate aides, are already siding with this 2006 Massachusetts mandate. Even though Mr. Obama may not like it, it is of little use to introduce a health insurance/care bill to Congress that cannot pass. Obama has shown great wisdom in uniting his party after such a long dragged out primary campaign. He will listen to Hillary now and doesn’t presume to have every detail in place yet. He summed it up in St. Louis on Sunday, when accused of capitulating on ending the war in Iraq. He responded with “I am not somebody – unlike George Bush – who is willing to ignore facts on the basis of my preconceived notions.”
