Obama Health Insurance Insight, Pt.1 – Where are we now?
Lynn Sweet, of the Sun-Times News Group has provided us
with a very informative insight concerning the latest
statements from the newly-established Democratic contender,
Barack Obama concerning health insurance. Here is a condensed
review of the well-written article by Lynn Sweet. Recently
Obama delivered in the Bristol Health Care Town Hall, in
Virginia. He wasted little time in attacking John McCain’s
failure to address the crises concerning the, almost 50
million Americans who don’t have health insurance. Obama
announced that this is “one of the most important challenges
we face in this country and one of the biggest issues in this
election.” He related to the audience about all the
“heartbreaking stories” he constantly hears every day and has
been hearing over the last 16 months from hurting people
without health insurance, but with high medical bills.
He speaks of a young female who attends college all day,
then has to rush off to a job just to pay for her sister’s
medicine. A man that three kids with cystic fibrosis nearly
lost his home for the medical bills and still can’t afford
health insurance. His wife and family are still not covered and
live in fear of being wiped out if one more single illness
should come about. He, then, commits “This election is about
them. It’s about you.” He mentions the 47 million Americans
without health insurance coming from states, just like theirs.
He mentions the millions of others that are struggling just to
hang in there and keep what little coverage they have.
