Scaled-Back Health Insurance in Nevada, Pt.5 -- A
new strategy.

Another individual health insurer is also in the game.
America's Health Insurance Plans has done some research and
seeks to “dispel some myths”. They state that “many consumers
believe individual coverage is far too expensive to afford.”
They have provided some figures that give an average of $217.75
per month in premium costs, which equates to $2,613 per year.
Another myth is that “insurers apply conditions that make
individual coverage tough to obtain.” They also dispel that by
saying that only 10% are turned down, the rest succeed in
acquiring individual health insurance plans.
America's Health Insurance Plans’ spokesperson Mohit Ghose
would like to see a certain reform enacted. Believing that this
would greatly help individual plan sales, he promotes giving
the same tax breaks to owners of individual plans that are now
given to both businesses and enrollees for employer-based
health insurance. He states "The system treats the employed
person better than it does the individual who seeks out
coverage on their own." No incentive is awarded to those who
must go out on their own to insure both themselves and their
families. Only those who are lucky enough to fall in to
ready-made options at their workplace. With the benefit of a
tax break, more people would be encouraged to buy health
insurance. Such is a current trend in America. Perhaps the
current downward trend will abate if more of the employee-based
providers start restructuring their plans to be more
economical, without giving up needed medical coverage. If not,
this new aggressive market may have a brighter future.
