Obama Tour Promotes Health Care -- Engages McCain and
expounds.
A good write-up in the Kaiser Dailey Health Report was
posted on health08.org. With their help we can, now, flesh in
more and more details and iron out some of the controversy. As
the Babington, of the AP/Philadelphia Daily News reports,
Barack started a 2-week tour yesterday, which will address
health insurance/care and other issues. Starting the tour in
Raleigh, NC, Mr. Obama further explained his plan for serious
health insurance/care reform. According to the Raleigh News &
Observer, he announced that his plan would lower each family’s
health insurance expenses $2,500. There will be mandatory
health insurance coverage for children. As reported by Sabar,
of the Christian Science Monitor, employers will be required
to either offer employer-based health insurance or else they
must contribute to a federal fund that will, in turn, provide
the coverage that the employer doesn’t. The amount contributed
will be a percentage of the company’s payroll.
Bacon, of "The Trail, with the Washington Post reports
Obama’s design to “provide subsidies to help U.S. residents
who cannot afford health insurance.” For one of the strongest
stances, Mr. Obama is decided on requiring health insurance
providers to cover "residents with pre-existing medical
conditions,” according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
Presumptive nominee Obama took it farther by attaching his
Republican counterpart, John McCain, to the Bush admin’s
failing health care debacle. He accused Bush of sacrificing
“investments in health care, and education, and energy and
infrastructure on the altar of tax breaks for big corporations
and wealthy CEOs." Mr. Obama also chides the Bush
Administration of trying to squander $1.2 billion to award a
tax break to Exxon Mobil while “millions of Americans can't
afford their medical bills,” along with many other extreme
hardships, a fuel crises and funding two wars simultaneously.
For a man who is so much against government spending, Obama
labels Bush’s actions by saying "That isn't just
irresponsible. It's outrageous." This was reported by the
AP/Philadelphia Daily News.
