The Young and Healthy, Pt.1 - Life is but a breeze.
Ah yes, the young and invincible. Life is just a
breeze…even when you’re heading over a cliff on a motorcycle.
I know…nice breeze for about 5 to 10 seconds. Peaceful, too…to
float thru the air, light as a feather. It’s just those
pesky rock ledges at the end that spoil it. Not fair.
But that’s only the beginning of what’s not fair. What
about all those broken bones? They’re not fair either.
Sure is nice to know the nice friendly hospital will fix you
right up. Paramedics, surgical technicians and even
doctors you will never know will look at your charts and send
a subordinate to tell you what’s wrong. Everybody’s your
friend. They like to keep in touch too. They’ll
write to you frequently after you leave them. Lots of
mail. Even the letters become pesky, after a while.
Seems like they are always asking the impossible. Nobody
ever gets bills for $18,000! Who are they kidding? Ouch!

that the young adults are the largest percentage of our
population that opt-out of health insurance. But how
significant is this? According to Ms. Bunim, the trend
of young adults without health insurance is ever increasing.
The figures that Juliana provides for us report that the
percentage of high school grads without health insurance leads
the way, at 38%. Following close behind are the college
grads without health insurance at 34%. Does this mean
that young adults are irresponsible? Not necessarily.
