Health Insurance vs. Socialized Healthcare, Pt1 -- What
Difference?
Health insurance, Socialized medicine – is one totally
perfect and the other totally evil? Why? How many of us can
give a value answer using sound judgment? I would guess, very
few – takes some homework. Enter -- Kevin Freking. I
believe that one of the foremost rules of good journalism is
to disseminate value information to promote the greatest
understanding with the least amount of confusion. Part of this
is to refrain from bias and present a full picture which
allows for interpretation based on context, rather then a
narrow nitch which obscures the full view. Kevin Freking
of the Associated Press has exercised these precepts of great
journalism so well when expounding on a most controversial
issue that I thought it more than worth the while to sort it
out so we could learn more and appreciate better
interpretations of all the rhetoric confronting us every day.
One of the more scary subjects to Americans is the prospect of
socialized medicine. Why? Because it’s so foreign to us and we
may carry a slanted perspective based upon the spin of a
non-expert. While Kevin may not be an expert on health
care he has shown himself to be an expert journalist – no
slant, no spin – even playing field. Health insurance -
Socialized medicine, health insurance - Socialized medicine?
Here’s understanding.
Kevin starts out this way: “Call it Obamacare or call
it Clintoncare. But don't call it ‘socialized
.medicine’." Don’t believe that either Barack or Hillary are
promising to do away with health insurance or institute
anything like the universal health coverage offered in Great
Britain or Canada. Continuing health insurance is definitely
in their proposals.
