Medical Record Retrieval for Health Insurance Carriers -

A new medical record retrieval system has been made
available today. MediConnect Global, Inc. has developed a
system allowing health insurance carriers to complete medical
chart risk adjustment before submissions. The initial focus
will be to assist Medicare Advantage Plans. Using this
service, health insurance carriers can quickly retrieve large
volumes of medical charts. From these, the health insurance
carriers can solicit accurate diagnosis coding which is used
to determine the proper reimbursement from the Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It’s also very thorough
and economical.
According to MediConnect CEO, Amy Rees Anderson,
“MediConnect provides carriers with a single source solution
for retrieving and digitizing mass volumes of medical records
from any or all of their providers.” “Retrieving these records
allows them to perform risk adjustment reviews either before
submitting to Medicare for reimbursement or after the initial
submission in order to appeal any underpaid reimbursements. A

these records is likely to leave significant money on the

All health insurance carriers need to do is give the list
of patients and patient providers for the records that need to
be retrieval to MediConnect. The MediConnect people work
directly with the healthcare providers and clinics.
MediConnect will then retrieve and digitize all the medical
charts. The records requested will be organized by medical
group (or individual providers). The medical group and
provider contact data will be also be validated as needed. Any
duplicates will be removed.
After all the records have been received, MediConnect
indexes them. It will then host the digitized record copies
online and transmit them to the Medicare Advantage plan or
other health insurance carrier. This will ensure that the
complete and accurate diagnosis coding has been performed for
submission to CMS and provide for proper reimbursement to
health insurance carriers for each plan member.
