Elect Health Insurance, Pt.3 – Mr. Obama helps employers
provide insurance.
Previous...
By contrast, Mr. Obama is striving to shore up the
instability in our employer-based risk-sharing health insurance
community. In this effort, he is requiring that medium-to-large
businesses contribute to the well-being of their own employees,
as they always have done in the past. It has always been
commonly accepted that these employers would offer health
insurance benefits to their employees. But, due to skyrocketing
premium costs over the last 8 years, many employers have found
the need to opt out of offering health insurance benefits any
longer.
Mr. Obama plans to help out these companies by bringing down
the health insurance cost to the employer. This would be
accomplished in several ways. One way is to subsidize some of
the high-cost items that raise rates in the first place. This
alone will help out the hard-pressed employers. Another way is
to create a large government public health insurance entity to
compete with the existing health insurance industry.
This new competition is expected to keep the open market
health insurance more in-line with reasonable profit margins
and keep health insurance premiums more within reach of the
American population.
Small business will receive even more help. Rather than
‘crush small business’ as Mr. McCain likes to say, Mr. Obama
will reach out to help them. First he will assist them by
providing large group health insurance plans, incorporating
several small companies who will all share in the benefits.
Together, they will enjoy the privileges that have only ever
been afforded to larger businesses in the past.
