Assessing Obama’s Divergence From McCain, Pt.5 – Revolt
against the revolting.
Previous…
Mr. Oberlander estimates that that the bundle of availing
such good health insurance to the 45.7 million Americans who
have none, as Mr. Obama proposes, would be more likely reach a
figure closer to $120 billion. This, of course, is double the
$50 billion to $65 billion that Obama is proposing to
accomplish it with. The major source that Mr. Obama has tagged
to provide this health insurance funding is from allowing the
‘obscene tax break’ Bush just gave to those being paid over a
quarter billion dollars annually, to expire in 2010. According
to the Economics Policy Institute, the average pay for these
executives has risen from 50 to 100 times as greater than the
average American worker during the Clinton years to an
incredible 300 times as great figure. All this has taken place
since Bush just ‘just gave them’ this tax break! Even Mr.
McCain, at the time, was against it. But now he’s changed his
mind. Mr. Obama is committed to the belief that this tax money
would be much better spent by providing health insurance to a
nation which has been so neglectful to its own health and
wellbeing.
Moving to the next topic of health insurance regulation,
only two weeks ago Mr. McCain was declaring himself to be the
‘King of de-regulation’. Then came the $700 billion bomb. If
the American voters have any intelligence at all, they will
rise up vehemently against such abuse. A whole new climate
needs to evolve concerning accountability of, not only
corporate greed and neglect with reckless abandon, but also
inept high-level government officials. There needs to be
serious congressional inquisitions. Our country is almost back
to the days of the Boston Tea Party. Our ordinary citizens have
become oppressed, that we have been accepting a life where
18,000 to 22,000 of us die each year for lack of health
insurance.
