Mr. O’s
new public health insurance isn’t meant to take anything else
away, however. All the existing avenues that still work will
be encouraged and revitalized. Employer-based health
insurance, for example is getting a new face-lift. Through the
last few years of neglect by the government, this system is
finally starting to fail. No one has been tending it and it’s
about to fall apart. Mr. Bush allowed corporate greed to jack
both health care and health insurance
costs
through the roof. Employers were caught in the middle. Their
portion of the health insurance benefits are so high, they
can’t make ends meet. The cost is so prohibitive, they’re
afraid to hire new help.
There goes the
economy again. More job loss because of the health
insurance/care crisis. Now it’s so bad that employers are
having to drop offering health insurance benefits to new
hires. The trend is accelerating at an alarming rate. Mr. O
is stepping in to relieve some of the biggest problems for
employers by taking on the expense of very expensive
treatments. In kind, he is also asking employers to step up
and do their part.
After giving some financial relief to these employers, Mr. O is
asking them in turn to help out with our nation’s crisis.
Those employers who still elect not to offer health insurance
benefits to their employees will be required to pay into a fund
so that these employees can get coverage elsewhere
