Elect Health Insurance, Pt.1 – How they do…what they do.
It’s right around the corner. Last chance to resolve the
health insurance crisis. Big difference in choices. About the
only thing predictable is change. Change can be either good or
bad. It all depends on the choices we make. When it comes to
health insurance, the difference can be drastic. So it’s very
risky to leave it up to happenstance. Let’s hope our voters
are well-versed on the issues because the health insurance we
get can leave very lasting effects.
Both candidates are targeting employer-based health
insurance. One wants to build it up, while the other wants to
tear it down. The goal is to cover more Americans with health
insurance. But the methods could hardly be more different.
Obama would like to make it more robust and make it more
affordable. McCain would like to do away with it and replace it
with cheap open market health insurance. As many as 164 million
Americans could be drastically affected by this.
According to the head of the American Benefits Council,
James Klein: "Both McCain's and Obama's plans would move
coverage in ways that changes the nature of the
employer-sponsored system." Both claim to be after the same
endpoint, but they’re taking opposite directions around the
earth to get there. That endpoint is to reform out current
health care system and provide more Americans with health
insurance.
As far as trying to cover all 45 million Americans who have
no health insurance now, their goals start to contrast sharply.
Focusing on the actual crisis as opposed to just radical change
seems also to be very contrasting.
