Medicare: The Next Golden Goose, Pt.2 – Political proportion distortion.

Previous…

Anywhere politics are concerned, it’s absolutely critical to evaluate proportion distortion. A half-truth does not automatically ‘round out’. It is neither truth, nor lie. It is also essential that half-truths are automatically classified as suspect, as is the person promoting them. Proportion distortion probably accounts for the single-most dangerous Trojan to a democratic system. With democracy being designed to bestow sovereignty to ‘the people’, we’re even challenged to define who ‘the people’ really are, proportion-wise. Isn’t it supposed to be ‘most of us’? Do we believe we’ve had that over the last eight years? What went wrong? The answer lies in the health insurance/care crisis. We’ve allowed the few to have it their way. Notice, these are not the people being directly hurt by the health insurance/care crisis. So ‘the few’ that are in charge are those who care the least about the health insurance/care crisis.

Mr. McCain’s health insurance/care proposals are riddled with distorted proportions. Most people don’t realize this, however. This is a very dangerous situation. Until we avail adequate and affordable health insurance to every American, for every year that passes, 18,000 to 22,000 Americans will die for lack of health insurance.

In life and death issues, proportions aren’t even appropriate. In other contexts, proportions only make sense. However, every voter has the right to not be misled. In order to exercise that right, though, a little prudence is required. Responsible Americans have duty to discuss findings and accuracy in community concerning the health insurance/care, economic and fuel crises. They are inter-related. We don’t need hate and disdain, we need earnest communication. The next article exhibits the expediency of this.
