Medical Professionals Like Obama, Pt.1 – The cost of greed and apathy.

Leaders from the trenches are uniting in voice about our very troubled health insurance crisis. A group of nurses with almost a century of combined nursing experience nationwide are very concerned over the last decades of decadence of a ‘once-commendable health insurance/care system. Posted on “thetimesherald.com” website, they express the deplorable conditions they witness each day. They speak of the steady increase in patients with no health insurance. These patients most commonly forego seeing physicians, getting needed tests and don’t get beginning treatment for various health problems. They all agree, it’s the same story every day. Not only do these people live in misery, but their late treatment is much more expensive. Those of greed who shun social responsibility should know that apathy toward those without health insurance ends up biting them worse when a minor illness intensifies for lack of early treatment.

Does this all sound far-fetched? Consider a typical case of an uninsured woman who develops a breast lump. Having no health insurance and no ‘wiggle-room’, she has to delay a mammogram. All too often, it turns out to be cancerous. With our modern technology, this is treatable only if caught early on. Because of no health insurance, it isn’t caught early on. Now, this person could have easily raised a ruckus and gotten early treatment for free. But, because of a selfless demeanor, that person didn’t want to be considered a load-out and be condemned by conservative-minded people. So she kept it to herself and let it fester. Now, it’s too late. Even with very expensive late treatment, she’s going to die anyway.
