Speaking Up From the Blog, Pt.6 – Higher learning from the Muppets.

Previous…

For those who remember Jim Henson’s Muppet wisdom which was so easily understood by little children, perhaps many adults could gain some profound wisdom as well.  The first page features Grover, urging the reader not to turn the page because a monster is waiting for them.  Subsequent pages build on the same fear.  Persistent children are naturally drawn to keep turning pages, though.  Finally, on the last page, the mysterious and fearful monster is revealed.  The monster turns out to be none other than Grover, himself.  He is the monster.  Now wasn’t that silly?  Apparently, not for many adults.  Their ‘monster is ‘socialized medicine’.  Mr. McCain is telling people not to turn the next page ‘cause there’s a ‘health insurance/care monster’ waiting.  This is the message of blogger ‘anita’ (Avg 5.00) as she responds to comments made by ‘Mr. Coffman’s’ health insurance/care quandary in an earlier article entitled: “Speaking Up On Health Insurance“.  She flips the book to the last page to expose this ‘health insurance/care monster’.

In her blog, ‘anita’ reiterates the scenario where ‘Mr. Coffman’ is in a pickle and desperate for health insurance.  His drudgery, is having to wait for Medicare ‘to kick in’.  ‘Mr. Coffman’ states that “doesn’t want to see socialized medicine” and ‘anita’ is pointing out that this seems to be ‘Mr. Coffman’s’ ‘monster’ at the end of the book.  The fact is that ‘Mr. Coffman’ is actually yearning and waiting for this very ‘monster’ and doesn’t know it.  Medicare is ‘socialized medicine’.  ‘anita’ herself is enjoying the security and peace of mind of her ‘socialized medicine’ called Medicare, and loves it.  She wonders how he can struggle so hard for health insurance and yet is still so opposed to having it now, instead of having to wait for it.
