Speaking Up From the Blog, Pt.7 – Some adults found to be
below Pre-K education.
Previous…
When we address imaginary ‘monsters’ like ‘socialized
medicine’, it might do well to address the root problem that
gives these ‘monsters’ foothold. Blogger ‘SamP’ does this by
opening deep-rooted questions about social prejudice. ‘SamP’
opens with the question: “What's wrong with socialized health
care?” Before we call an emergency Ku Klux Clan rally screaming
‘Commie! Commie! Commie!’, consider that "look[ing] after your
fellow man [is] the Christian thing to do,” as ‘SamP’ puts it.
Not only that, it should not require a genius to see that other
peoples’ problems will eventually grow to the point where they
will drag down those who choose to remain disassociated. This
health insurance/care crises will never go away if left
untreated. It may diminish in importance as our social
structure allows our nation to degrade to being a 3rd-world
society. But who wants that? We already have the
least-respected health insurance/care system in the
industrialized world. We should be ashamed. We need serious
health insurance/care reform that addresses the actual crisis
head on.
‘SamP’ provides us with a no-nonsense overview of the root
problem. It centers on the human side of a nation’s economy. As
‘SamP’ explains, the money is merely a smoke screen for what
lies beneath. The bedrock is man-power. We must never lose
sight of this. This is where we must ‘tend the garden’. The
nurturing must include essential services like "police, fire,
roads, education and [health insurance/care],” as ‘SamP’
explains. In ancient Rome, the fire departments were all
privatized. So the firefighters would arrive on the scene and
let the fire burn while they negotiated price. Absurd? Well
that’s exactly what America is doing with our health
insurance/care system…and it’s every bit as absurd, perhaps
more-so. So when a politician spews out fear-barbs about
‘socialized monsters’, maybe that person needs to be (gently)
slapped aside the head and reminded “Hey Dude, were talking
about ‘firefighters’ here”. We don’t let people die while we
negotiate the profits. No industrialized (and few third-world)
countries are floundering as bad as we are. Some of us need to
start over for Pre-K Muppet wisdom. We’ve grossly missed
something.
