Speaking Up On McCain’s Plan, Pt.4 – For those mindful of
the real crisis.

Inadequate health insurance is not
just a hardship. It is the leading cause of personal
bankruptcy in our country today and has been for a few years
now. In many cases, it’s worse than having no health insurance
at all. The latest US Census (2007) recorded at least 25
million Americans in this boat. It’s probably even higher
today, but that’s a small problem compared to a situation where
our whole nation is drawn into this cheap health insurance
crucible. We may find ourselves looking at another melt-down.
We’ve
already recorded a 60% leap since 2003, as reported by the
highly regarded private foundation called from the Commonwealth
Fund. They have performed a very comprehensive study to
measure the depth of this problem. For the results of their
finds, please refer to the article series’ entitled: “Health
Insurance Still Plummeting “, “Hidden
Dangers of Inadequate Health Insurance” and “Major
'Underinsured' Sector”.
Raging
fires of the crisis are the 45.7 million Americans with no
health insurance, 15 million Americans who are denied coverage
due to chronic and pre-existing conditions and the rate of
20,000 Americans dying each year for lack of health insurance.
Of all these, Mr. McCain’s plan only addresses between 1 and 5
million of these citizens. To do that, Mr. McCain has only
earmarked $10 billion. Experts place the cost of Mr. McCain’s
plan at, closer to $160 billion or more on average for the
first 3 years.
