Census on Unsensible Health Insurance, Pt.2 –
Addressing
the ‘uninsured' problem.
Previous…
We’ve known of the nation’s ‘no health insurance blight’ for
some time now. So what’s in the making? Lots of talk, lot’s of
suggestions and lots of ‘nay-say’ on how best to fix the health
insurance/care crises. Perhaps the best indicators are the
intentions and policies of out presidential contenders. It
seems like the only agreement between the two is that the
health insurance/care need fixing, The propositions, however,
seem to be juxtaposed.
On the topic of those without health insurance, Mr. Obama is
very concerned. He has vowed to, at least, make comprehensive
health insurance really affordable and guaranteed so that all
who want it can get it. Even if they have no money. All the
children are to be covered. One of the most important
projections, of course, is “When’s all this gonna happen?” Mr.
O’s projections are to reduce the uninsured population by 18
million Americans by the year 2009, reducing it by 34 million
by the year 2018.
By contrast, it seems that the ‘no health insurance crises’
is viewed as a ‘minor issue’ (McCain’s term) in the McCain
camp. Projections are only to reduce the uninsured population
by 1 million by the year 2009 and by 2013, to have only reduced
the total by 5 million. So no substantial progress is projected
in this area. As far as this topic goes, priority seems to be a
large issue. With 18,000 of our citizens dying every year
because of it, our voters need to be much more vocal and better
publicize the priority much more to bring the ‘uninsured’ peril
into greater national focus.
