Democrats Discuss Health Insurance, Pt.2 – High-level health insurance/care forum.

Previous…

This health insurance/care reform forum was replete with a host of other top names: Former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.), was there. Mr. Daschle has been a very outspoken critic of our failing health insurance/care system for a long time. The statements he was promoting several months ago concerning the urgency for health insurance/care reform have become more and more ‘right on the mark’ with each passing day. For an example, please refer to the article entitled: “Daschle -- Better Health Care System”.

Another top-name speaker was John Dingell (D-Michigan). Mr. Dingell is chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Governor Patrick of Massachusetts was there also. Governor Patrick is currently in the ‘political driver’s seat of the ‘illustrious Commonwealth Model’, the first ever project to successfully prove the viability of a large scale universal health insurance/care coverage system in our country. Other top names, all in support of the ‘Obama health insurance/care reform proposal’ were Gov. Rendell of Pennsylvania, Gov Sebelius of Kansas, Rep. Hilda Solis of California and Gov. Strickland of Ohio.

They were also united in their disapproval of the Bush administration’s harsh treatment of SCHIP and Bush’s obstinate vetoes against expanding health insurance/care coverage for the child for so many years. They also blasted Bush for being drawn in by all the ‘special-interest’ groups away from quality health insurance/care reform.

Executive director of Families USA, Ron Pollack, addressed the crowd, saying: "We are all here to promote health care reform as the top and earliest priority for the next president and Congress." He further admonished that the opportunity for real health insurance/care reform is now. But, in order for it to happen, it is expedient for this topic to be the top domestic agenda from the onset of both, the new administration and also Congress. Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union followed up with the directive “The first 100 days of an Obama administration, we're going to finally solve this health care problem."
