Democrats Discuss Health Insurance, Pt.3 – Health
Insurance Industry concerned?
Previous…
Previous… CongressDaily has researched and expounded on how
the Obama proposals will stack up with the health
insurance/care industries. They have come to the conclusion
that, no matter how this strong Obaman/Democratic health
insurance/care movement evolves in days to come, it’s likely
“to be a long fall campaign for insurance companies." One of
the big issues is the creation of a ‘National Health Insurance
Exchange’ that will serve, in part, as a watchdog. Director for
AFL-CIO’s health care campaign, Heather Booth challenges: "We
think there has to be a real watchdog on what insurance
companies can do.” Pricing and add-on costs that health
insurers attach “need to be monitored"
CongressDaily speaks of a very motivated “coalition of
community groups, think tanks, labor unions and women's groups”
called Health Care for America Now. They have very close ties
with a large community, including the Obama campaign and others
who are serious about getting the health insurance/care debacle
taken care of soon. They heartily agree with Mr. O’s approach
and especially like the part about keeping “a keen eye on
insurance companies”. This group is so ‘stoked’ that they plan
to launch an aggressive advertising campaign before Election
Day to the tune of $25 million. They’ve already organized an
army, complete with "100 organizers in 45 states”. They are
vying for a showdown debate to answer the question: Does our
country want a "guarantee of quality affordable health care for
all?" or are we willing to settle for "leaving us on our own to
buy private health insurance?"
