Latest Report on the ‘Uninsured’, Pt.4 –
Hadley’s advice: “Save now, or pay later.”
Previous…
Right now, about 16% of Americans do not have health
insurance. With the 47 million already without health insurance
in 2007, an additional 28 million more as of this year have
spent some time without health insurance, according to the U.S.
Census bureau.
The recommendation is to cover everyone with health
insurance. Some of the benefits of expanded health
insurance/coverage could include greater productivity from our

for making this benefit possible and also the intrinsic value
of good health.
Mr. Hadley explains that spending on health insurance/care

perspective, covering the uninsured is still a good
investment.” But, he adds: “Failure to act in the near term
will only make it more expensive to cover the uninsured in the
future, while adding to the amount of lost productivity from
not insuring all Americans."
Something must be done, soon. When viewing the ‘big picture’
of these components we can see that the total costs, including
“additional care to current spending by or for those without
health insurance,” the costs of providing health insurance for
these people would be “about $208.6 billion,” Mr. Hadley
informs us. In order to expand coverage to those without health
insurance through private and public insurance, the cost of
would add about 5% to national health spending
