Mr. McCain on Health Insurance/Care, Pt.2 – Adjective
‘adequate’ appreciation.
Previous…
Is it okay for our president to turn a blind eye to the tens
of thousands of Americans who are being denied health insurance
and dying as a result? This is a core question, not just a
detail. Do we know? Have we asked? What did it mean when the
message at the RNC was that “It’s not the government’s function
to care after Americans. They need to care for themselves.” Mr.
Obama has stated that government "cannot solve all of the
country's problems" but "has basic responsibilities.” Probably
Mr. McCain would agree with this statement. But it’s left
empty, when two opposing meanings are applied. Does ‘basic’
mean just having a military? Does ‘basic’ mean serving ‘high
tea’ to each American every day? What about health
insurance/care? How responsible should our President be in a
national crises? Shouldn’t the president offer a vision of
what’s adequate health insurance/care, as opposed to just
offering Band-Aids?
What is the purpose of health insurance/care reform and what
is adequate? Is it sufficient to reduce the 45.7 million number
or those without health insurance to only 44.7 million people
in 1 year and down to 40.7 million after 5 years? No, Mr.
McCain is not as concerned with providing adequate health
insurance that every American can afford, as he is about
increasing corporate profits. Republican first. He’s never
denied that.
Will Mr. McCain’s health insurance//care proposal provide
necessary care for those with chronic and pre-existing
conditions? This is a core issue and has never been amply
addressed. It needs to be. No, Mr. McCain is not as concerned
with covering the chronically ill as he is about increasing
corporate profits. Republican first. He’s never denied that.
We’ve just never asked the questions.
