Sensible Definition of ‘Best Coverage’, Pt.3 – Creative, sensible thinking.

Previous…

Jonathan’s scenario is about national health insurance, or even socialized medic___. Dare I say it? The scare tactics thrown out every time people suggest national health insurance or socialized medicine always comes down under-funding. Long waiting lines, etc, etc. Since the US is already paying twice as much as all the other industrialized countries, why not just keep spending what we are now and immediately switch over to socialized medicine? There would be no under-funding, with the double-pay. Everyone would have health insurance and there may be enough money left over to throw a big party. The truth is that, the ones getting all that extra money now, don’t want to give it up. This is the real issue. So let’s address it, openly and honestly.

Well, Mr. ‘Steve’ has been good to share a little more insight on some points that concern many, in so many debate cases. His concern is the issue of the “65 yo obese, smoking truck drivers without the means to live healthfully.” His preference is to leave these people to “rott” (and die), before he is willing to subsidize voluntary bad health. There is no mention about offering health insurance which would promote preventive support in smoking cessation or dietary programs or the exclusion smoking-related care coverage for those who choose not to help themselves. Of course this option wasn’t in the original conversation. We need more suggestions like this on the table. There may be a viable ‘middle-ground’. After all, Mr. Steve did agree to support health insurance support those who have fallen into ill-health, not of their own doing.

One final comment by ‘RMS’. All it says is “To sum it up, you want something for nothing.” I certainly hope this person has voluntarily served in the military in harm’s way. Maybe lost a leg or something. Maybe that person still will. Otherwise, our patriots might consider that person an ungrateful freeloader for getting ‘something for nothing’.
